Jason Riley writes that racial preferences "are not only legally dubious but also counterproductive" due to mismatching which results in higher attrition rates and students switching to less rigorous majors. He also argues that schools have gone too far—instead of race being "one of several factors considered in college admissions...it has become a major factor even while school admissions officers pretend otherwise."
